Daily coffee drinking can reduce risks of cardiovascular mortality

Also a coffee cup can be a healthy habit. As long-time tradition, any “Mediterranean” meal ends with a good cup of coffee. In fact, a moderate coffee consumption, in compliance with the Mediterranean funding principal of moderation, can reduce the risk of cardiovascular mortality.

Printed on one page of Moli-Sani Project 2023 calendar, the above sentence summarizes the results of a study carried out by researchers of the I.R.C.C.S. Department of Epidemiology and Prevention of Neuromed of Pozzilli (IS), as part of the MoliSani Project published in 2021 on the international science journal The Journal of Nutrition.

The study interested a cohert of 20,487 men and women between 2005 and 2010 and proved that a daily consumption of 3-4 Italian brewed coffee cups can bring significant healthy advantages in the measure to be included in the Mediterranean diet. A significant reduction of mortality, especially caused by cardiovascular diseases, has been observed in regular coffee consumers, possibly thanks to lower levels of NTproBNP.
